This is my favorite album of the year. Twin telecasters winding like a double helix around endless drums, mitochondria exploding all over the place in barks and yelps of joy. This is like listening to electricity. Put your ear up to a power outlet. It will be like listening to this record. Try track four "Celebrate The Body Electric." OR THE WHOLE THING. Please make this number 1 guys.
Oneida - Preteen Weaponry [Jagjaguwar]
Our musical wizard friends in Oneida dish out part one of their "THANK YOUR PARENTS" trilogy. This big mama 40 minute track is cut into three more digestible pieces. Part one is a thumping drone. Part two is a more drony drone. Part three is a climactic drone. It is pretty much awesome. Anyone who plays the whole thing on their show will be guaranteed to get a show next quarter.

Sonic Youth With Mats Gustafsson and Merzbow - Andre Sider Af Sonic Youth [Smells Like]
This was recorded live at the Roskilde festival in Denmark in 2005. It is a 60 minute structured improv piece featuring all of Sonic Youth (+Jim O'Rourke), Swedish Sax Scorcher Mats Gustafsson, and 100% noisenik legend Merzbow on laptop. Any show that plays this in full gets my respect.
