Colourmusic - F Monday Orange February Venus Lunatic 1 Or 13 [World's Fair]
One of the first things I ever listened to when I started at KUCI was a song by this band called YES!. That was a long time ago. It was on an EP that was then a new release. It has been awhile but Colourmusic have finally released a full-length album that features re-recordings of the EP tracks plus a bunch of others. This band is JOYOUS. Experimental Dental School - Jane Doe Loves Me [Cochon]
After a few albums with I daresay more misses than hits, I think this band finally got the nonsense::musicality ratio right. Jerky, barebones structures contort all over the place with a bed of melody and boy/girl vocals to keep them afloat. Produced by Deerhoof's Greg Saunier.
Freshkills - Freshkills [Self-Released]
Post-punk sort of. Really got that indie-rock sort of 'soul.' Does not feel cookie-cutter despite initial impressions.
The Individuals - Fields/Aquamarine [Bar/None]
Pure indie rock, made in like 1981 or something. Dudes put out two albums and then broke up. Here are both of them on one disc. That old Yo La Tengo sound is alive here.
Miss Murgatroid & Petra Haden - Hearts & Daggers [File Under Music]
This is in no way Rock-A. This sounds like the Amelie soundtrack (that means accordions). It RULES. Play it always please.
Muslims - Muslims 08 [1928 Recordings]
I love this CD so muchhhh. I am going to copy pasta the blurb I wrote for the current listening guide, because I am hungry:
Barebones jams full of hooky couplets that will burrow into your mind. For some reason the first word I think of when I think of this band is "scrappy." Their take at no-frills 70s proto-punk a la The Modern Lovers, maybe, will earn no points for originality in the rock game, but that's hardly to discount them: no one is making this kind of music as elegantly and brashly as these SD-to-LA transplants.

Nat Baldwin - Solo Contrabass [Peacock]
Oh man, double the fun? Not quite. This is not at all like his other two records. This is totally like, avant-classical. He really messes with the contrabass. Some of it is unlistenable and some of it is totally melodic but it is all pretty awesome. I like this guy.
