Salutations!
Christmas! New Year!
It has been a long month since the last time I did adds and wrote blurbs and I feel really rusty, like that bike I had when I was younger with the training wheels that was left out on the balcony and got rained on and rained on. The training wheels wouldn't even turn anymore. :'(
Yesterday I saw THERE WILL BE BLOOD. I think the message of that movie was "Mo' Money Mo' Problems."
O, 2008. I am looking forward to a funciting year!

Say Hi - The Wishes and the Glitch [Euphobia]
This band dropped the 'to your mom' from their name. I have never really listened to this band, but I always had the notion that they sounded like this. I know a lot of people dig them, so here is their new one. The riff on the first track sounds exactly like Archers of Loaf's "White Trash Heroes."
Dengue Fever - Venus on Earth [M80]
I have been meaning to listen to this band for a good long while, and this disc is totally rad. Take one part the best of 60s sort-of psychadelic rock and roll and add sultry vocals by way of Cambodian-born chanteuse Chhom Nimol and you have really great, extremely listenable cambo-pop-psych-rock-ugh-this-is-such-an-awful-blurb. Please play this one!
Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals
This band wants to challenge your notions of pop and rock music!! There's a lot of harmonies and zwooshy sounds on this album, a lot of jingles and reverb, a lot of vageuly (overtly) ethnic zest. They have gotten a ton of hype over this record and though my first few listens left me unimpressed it is just now hitting me and I am digging it a lot.
Kate Nash - Made of Bricks [Geffen]
Everyone is comparing her to Lily Allen gone sorta folksy. They are sort of right. Catchy as a fever though.
Videohippos - Unbeast the Leash [Monitor]
Lo-fi jams with killer drums and guitars sandwiching synth riffs and bubbles. I love love love "Rider." It is track 9. I promise next weeks blurbs will be better.
Juni Jarvi - Wherever Thou Art [Saltwater]
You all probably get it by now. Swedish people, catchy, coy songs. Track 6 is greatttttt.
The Whitsundays - The Whitsundays [Friendly Fire]
More fuzzy rocknroll forged from rainbow fires. Sounds like the 60s, and from Canada. The first track is a winner!
Caroline - Murmurs Mixes [Temporary Residence]
I think I may have passed on this artist's actual record, but this collection of remixes is pretty magical. Sort of IDM. I like track 4!
V/A - The Second Marriage Records Compilation [Marriage]
Marriage Records has put out a lot of interesting and unique material over the last few years. A lot! This is their second compilation. It features huggable artists, such as Mt. Eerie, Dirty Projectors, Yacht, and MOREEEEE.
