Hear ye, hear ye,
This weekend, I ate a lot of chicken wings and I watched a lot of movies. I went to Yogurtland twice. I ate at two restaurants. I sat on the computer for awhile. I went to a party. I danced. I listened to Sir Richard Bishop and Eric Copeland and Andrew W.K. (CHECK THIS: seriously it rules). I stayed up late. I had coffee. I thought about my future.
ANYWAYYYYYY mad props to whoever put candy on the lobby table at the station. You are powering my blurbs. Except for "Runts." "Runts" are awful.

A Place to Bury Strangers - A Place to Bury Strangers [Killer Pimp]
This is not a shitty hardcore band. The cover art and song titles will remind you of My Bloody Valentine. This band sounds like My Blood Valentine. They have more urgency, though, I think. Some of these songs start off like they will be dreary and gloom-metal-y but they quickly morph into a LUSH and DREAMY stew of heavy but pleasantly throbbing bass, drums, guitars, etc. This is really awesome. The sticker on the wrapper for this album says that they are the loudest band in New York and there's a quote from Stylus comparing their guitars with the sound of a DYING TYRANNOSAURUS REX. SO COOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL
White Williams - Smoke [tigerbeat6]
The cover art for this album SUCKS. This album is, however, fairly very rad. There's a stunningly obvious four-on-the-floor vibe across the whole record, but it does not really wear thin. The percussion beats on and on in different flavors as the guitars move from backburner to flaming barnburner, the bass lays thick like cement mix, and joe williams' voice breaths out loud and sweet sorta-semi-croons. All around electronics buzz and burp. He plays melodica also. Every show on KUCI could play the first track on the record and not alienate a single listener. Try it! Really! All of you! It would be like a communal thing.
Sigur Ros - Hvarf/Heim [XL]
When I was younger and (more) musically-challenged, I tried listening to this band's "( )" record and I was profoundly bored. Fast-forward some 5 or so years and I have yet to give them another chance. My flaws aside, here is their new record. It's a double EP on one disc.
Grizzly Bear - Friend EP [Warp]
Grizzly Bear have some cool friends, and on this EP they and their friends play their music both with and without them. Everyone likes indie rock!!!!
Tokyo Police Club - Smith [Paper Bag]
These tots have something against making a full LP it would seem. The "Lesson In Crime" EP was a pretty big hit around these parts so here is another pint-sized offering of tight-pants nerdy-rock. Seriously, whoever put the candy out here. I have seen the light of strawberry fun-size Laffy Taffy.
Samara Lubelski - Parallel Suns [Social Registry]
This is SUPER PRETTY. But like, not boring. Pretty and relaxing but still fun to listen to. Folky. Sam is running out of steaaaaaaammmmmm.
Finn Riggans - A Sailor, A Saint, An Ocean Explorer [Tender Loving Empire]
I don't like the name of this band. The sticker says their music is crunchy. Their RIYL namechecks Spoon and...Rush. I think this is a fine example of a couple kids playing really freaking fun music. It's not too cute, it's not too trendy, it's not too anything. It's really solid and entertaining and uniquely it's own. Sh*tty name though.
