Makthaverskan - II - [Run For Cover Records] **Re-Release
Makthaverskan are a 5 piece Garage Punk/Post-Punk band from Sweden. After obtaining a large underground following, Makthaverskan was signed to Run For Cover Records, who decided to re-release their second full length record II in order to gain the band some well-deserved attention in the U.S. Characterized by its upbeat and catchy riffs, dreamy echo, and heart felt lyrics, II is very reminiscent of the work of artists such as The Cure and The Smiths. Influences of different Indie Punk bands such as Superchunk and Dinosaur Jr. can be heard on this record as well. Tracks to definitely check out on this album include; “Antabus,” “Asleep,” “Outshine,” “No Mercy,” and “Distance.”
The Stalins Of Sound - Tank Tracks - [Slovenly Recordings]
The Stalins of Sound are a 3 piece Electro-Punk band from San Diego, CA. Their new record Tank Tracks is a very unusual album that features a perplexing mix of punk rock and electronica. Characterized by heavily distorted guitars, angsty vocals, and piercing keyboards, Tank Tracks leaves the listener dumbfounded yet intrigued at the same time. While they are a very unusual act, the listener can pick out influences of different 80’s Punk Rock artists such as The Misfits, The Dead Kennedys, and Agent Orange. Tracks to definitely check out on this album include; “Monkeys Attack,” “Meatbag,” “Tank Tracks,” and Truth to “Power.”
Ed Schrader's Music Beat - Party Jail - [Infinity Cat Recordings]
Ed Schrader's Music Beat is a 2 piece Post-Punk band from Baltimore, MD. Their new album Party Jail is very unique in that the only instrumentation that can be heard is bass, drums, and vocals. Even without a guitarist, the duo shows that they can still play punk rock (as well as many other forms of rock and roll) in its finest fashion. With this being said, the band shows many similarities to notable punk rock acts such as The Misfits, The Circkle Jerks, OFF!, and The Damned. Tracks to definitely check out on this record include; “Pantomime Jack,” “Televan,” “Radio Eyes,” “No Fascination,” and “Signs.”
The Warhawks - Exodus - EP - [Self Released]
The Warhawks are a 4 piece Punk Rock band from Gloucester City, NJ. Their new EP Exodus is a very catchy record that features an abundance of loud guitars, angsty vocals, and poppy melodies. While it is hard to attribute their sound to one artist, the band bares a lot of similarities to The Matches. They also show some similarities to Weezer and Zebrahead. Nerveless, this is a really cool record and I highly recommend checking it out! Tracks to definitely check out on this album include; “Just Let Me,” “Be There,” and “Eradicate.”
