Backtrack – Lost in Life – [Bridge 9 Records]
Backtrack is a 5 piece Hardcore band from Long Island, NY. Their new album, Lost in Life marks the band’s first new release in 3 years as well as their first release on Bridge 9 records. Lost in life is a hard hitting record that is very reminiscent of ‘80s and ‘90s New York Hardcore bands such as Madball, Sick of it All, Cro-Mags, and Judge. The songs on this album are characterized by fast paced verses, screaming vocals, and heavy breakdowns. Nightmare Boyzzz – Bad Patterns - [Slovenly Recordings]
The Nightmare Boyzzz are a 5 piece Power Pop/Punk Rock band from Huntsville, AL. Their debut full length album Bad Patterns is a very catchy record chalk full of fuzzed out, in-your-face punk anthems that leave the listener blown away. Characterized by elements of high pitched vocals, distorted guitars, and a catchy melodies, the sound of the songs on this record are very similar to that of artists such as The Buzzcocks, The Circle Jerks, X, Superchunk, and Dinosaur Jr. Cyrus Atkins of Fabricoh Magazine described the album as “About as tight and blazing a garage-pop record you could ask for.” Tracks to definitely check out on this record include “Valium,” “You’re a Star,” “Bender,” “I Don’t Wanna Feel Alright,” and “You Have no Friends.”

Rotting Out is a 5 piece Hardcore Punk/Crossover Thrash band from Los Angeles, CA. Their new album The Wrong Way, which was originally put out on 6131 Records, has just now been re-released courtesy of Purenoise Records. This album features a very heavy sound characterized by many elements of ‘90s New York and L.A. based hardcore punk bands such as Sick of It All, Madball, Pennywise, and Suicidal Tendencies. Jason Schreurs of Alternative press described the vintage hardcore sound of this album best when he said “An obvious ode to their hardcore heroes is tagged all over The Wrong Way: the gallopy crossover riffs, funked-out distorted bass (is he slapping? Reggie and the Full Effect – No County For Old Musicians - [Purenoise Records]
Reggie and the Full Effect is James Dewees’ Alternative/Pop Punk solo project based out of Kansas City, MO. The group’s new album “No Country For Old Musicians” marks their first new release in 5 years. The songs on this record are characterized by a mix of catchy guitar hooks, harmonious synthesizers, and comical lyrics that all make up for an album full of fun tunes. On top of that, many notable guest artists such as Matt Proy of The Get Up Kids, Adam Lazzara of Taking Back Sunday, and Alison Weiss can be heard on this album as well. Tracks to definitely check out on this record include “Super Croc VS.
