FUZZ - Live In San Francisco - Castleface
Listen to this. I could just end the blurb there but for the sake of filling up space here's some more info: the concert was recorded at San Francisco leather-daddy hangout The Eagle and features Ty celebrating his birthday by wailing away to a completely packed house and blowing out candles mid-song. The fuzzy, grungy, dominating combination of guitars, drums, and vocals pounding their way into your eardrums is like a suplex of sound.
Songs: Ohia - Magnolia Electric Co. (10-Year Anniversary Edition) - Secretly Candaian
A tribute to Jason Molina's career, this 10-year anniversary edition of Magnolia Electric Co. features tons of demos, rarities, and unreleased material. Not only will the two CDs-worth of indie/country rock keep you jamming, but the unreleased tracks will you make you feel like you're hanging out with Molina in the studio. Don't miss this one.
Sky Ferreira - Night Time, My Time B-Sides//Part 1 - Capitol
The 21-year-old LA native is blowing up. Having just been booked as the opening act for Miley Cyrus' 2014 Bangerz tour, her chill and super polished electro-pop sound is sure to be all over the place very soon. Also interesting is the fact that her mom was Michael Jackson's hairstylist for 25 years.
The Moth & The Flame - & - Hidden Records
The sophomore release from the indie alternative rockers delivers a six-shot of musically complex and interestingly layered music. Spookier than their 2011 debut, odd meters and heavy sounds abound on this one but thankfully not at the cost of any catchiness and foot-tappability.
Young & Sick - Continuum EP - Harvest
Smooooooooth as butter and hip as.. something. The LA-based band absolutely nails the whole synth-R&B thing with this two-track EP. Always groovy and at times even haunting, Young & Sick's EP will leave you pining for more than just two scoops of this sonic sugar. Treat yourself.
