Ty Segall Band - Slaughterhouse – (In The Red Records)
Ty Segall is on fire with this new super fuzzed out lo-fi garage rock album. As I like to say, the lo-fi god himself. Listening to this album sounds like when you just wake up from a very confusing hangover where you know you had fun but just cannot remember anything from the night before...where all you’re left with is permanent marker drawings on your face.
The Shrine - Primitive Blast – (Tee Pee Records)
Psychedelic violence rock and roll, (not to be confused with King Khan and The Shrines, they are different bands) This LA band has a cult following who have grown out facial hair, wear ripped denim shorts, and show off their DIY denim vests. It’s heavy semi- thrashy music with garage punk undertones. They’re the dudes who you hire to move your furniture (literally), never expecting such great musical talent out of such ungroomed humans.
JEFF The Brotherhood - Hypnotic Nights – (Warner Bros)
From Nashville, actual brothers, Jake and Jamin Orrall, started the band in high school. It’s mid-fi surfy indie punky psychedelic garage rock. Perfect to listen to if you’re tired of being confused about the future, staring at the blank wall in your room, and want to go drunk bowling with your friends on a hot summer day instead.
The White Wires - WWIII – (AAM)
These Canadian garage rockers know how to get girls who wear floral dresses with hidden tattoos dancing and smiling at a spring evening backyard party. It’s chocolate dipped strawberries and pink lipstick pop rock.
Holograms - Holograms – (Captured Tracks Records)
Fuzzed out mid-fi garage punk. It’ll make you jump and jump, mimicking one of those 2 out of 6 minute a day workouts...except with no defined structural routine, all with spike bracelets on.
DIIV - Oshin – (Captured Tracks Records)
Calm chill indiefied lo-fi with fuzzed vocals all mixed in one. These New Yorkers know what it means to relax after a high school reunion. They know the secret to a perfect balanced life...experienced with the drive home after the night you lost your innocence or learned some fundamental laws of physics.
