The Magnetic Fields - Love At The Bottom Of The Sea – (Merge)
New romantic theatrical and too-clever-for-their-own-good sad-pop by the Magnetic Fields that marks a return to their earlier 90s synth based bubbly demented personal headphones-only disco party sound. Less conceptual than their previous Realism, Distortion, and I, Love At The Bottom Of The Sea sounds more like a mutant mixtape of lost radiophonic workshop and Phil Spector songs that can only be found in the deepest depths of Rick Santorum's workout playlist. Also, Stephen Merritt recently got a chihuahua, explaining why this album is slightly chippier than usual.

Moving on from her hazy identity-ambiguous non-commital lo-fi every-song-stuck-in-your-head discopop of Good Evening, One Second Of Love marks a radical stylistic shift to a more polished mechanical upfront confident disjointed fun heart-felt neo-classical avant-R&B sound. Her new album stays with you in a more substantial way, and its sincerity is deeply admirable.

Member of Of Montreal, makes theatrical immense fancy pants complex and thoughtful positive baroque pop that makes you want to kishi all your bashis.

After Time Capsule I, there is Time Capsule II. Who knew a sequel would even make it to the silver screen. The story of Oberhofer is a forward in time one. It's hi-fi bombastic anthemic positive energetic indie rock that makes you ask: Isn't like time just a social construct or whatever?
