Fennesz - Seven Stars – (Touch Tone)
Listening to this is like experiencing all the best parts of going to a planetarium without the neck pain. Fennesz's new EP is truly goosebumping inducing stuff and a post-true-to-reality counterpart to everything inspirational Alan Watts and Carl Sagan every said. Super gritty, organic, innovative, patient and constantly stirring. Probably one of my favorite things I've added. Short and sweet.
Duchess Says - In a Fung DAY T! – (Alien 8)
High adrenaline empowering stop-on-a-dime post-punky abrasive no-wavey anti-disco. It's as though Erase Errata traded their guitars for synths and drum machines.
Peter Wolf Crier - Garden Of Arms – (Jagjaguar )
Super layered beat heavy bombastic and vocally based emotive, sentimental and careful indie rock. It's personal and cathartic, but inviting and not alienating.
Deer Tick - Divine Providence – (Partisan)
Newest from this dirty dan no holds bar take-you-to-the-back-of-the-barn-and-mess-you-up folk-rock outfit. Rootsy and raspy R&R my-way-or-the-highway fun times all the time with some serious 'tude.
Xeno & Oaklander - Sets & Lights – (Wierd)
Intergalactic cold NDW-style mechanical fab-friendly new wave with a more cerebral mind-freak tone (I've been saving that one) rather than gothy all-black all the time. They've totally polished their sparkly monotonous yet infectious jammers from their debut.
Frank Alpine - Frank Alpine – (Wierd)
Spooky atonal synth-based skin-bleached and eyeliner friendly dread-drenched space punk. Soundtrack to the possible world where Herman Cain's tax plan is actually marked by the unholiest of numbers.
